Member States’ ministers for Sport adopted conclusions on the economic dimensions of sport and its socio-economic benefits.
The 472th edition of the Eurobarometer is all about sport and physical activity, or more accurately, the lack of it. The main finding of the research is:
‘Nearly half the Europeans never exercise or play sport, and the proportion has increased gradually in recent years’.
This is a worrisome evolution knowing the devastating impact physical inactivity has on people’s health and the massive associated economic cost.
With the Let’s #BEACTIVE project, EuropeActive is helping to turn this tide of inactivity. The goal is to convert 60 000 currently inactive people into active people, living healthier lives. The Eurobarometer clearly shows the need for such projects.
